Catholic version of Family Home Evening

In searching the web for new ideas for a Family Game Night, I came across this from the LDS site:
Family home evening is a special time set aside each week that brings family members together and strengthens their love for each other, helps them draw closer to Heavenly Father, and encourages them to live righteously. (http://www.lds.org/hf/fhe/welcome/0,16785,4210-1,00.html) Well, that sounds like what I was looking for. I found another article that gave me the "bones" that I was looking for:
"If you aren’t able to include any religion at all, including prayers, a sample family night might look like this:
1. Welcome by person conducting.
2. Song (Any song your family enjoys)
3. lesson on practical skill or shared value
4. fun activity together
5. Closing song
6. Treats"

BINGO! This is what I was looking for. Besides wanting to create family time, I also wanted to talk about our religion. The only problem is that I didn't grow up Catholic. I was baptized, but my parents didn't practice. My husband grew up Catholic, but it was treated as something you do, like breathing and eating. I wanted to explore our faith in a comfortable and fun way. Our oldest, at 7, is already protesting going to church. And our little ones say their prayers, but I don't think they "get it". So on this page will be my ramblings, my fumblings, my failures and my success' at this new venture. Wish me luck!

I found this website that has the readings for the next Sunday's mass as well as other activities related to the mass:

So far, this Thursday, I've come up with the scripture that will be used at Mass. Now just have to find activities to tie in with that (or not). It's late and I need to get to bed!

05/16/2010: Well, it went ok. The triplets have a MUCH shorter attention span than I originally thought!! They have a hard time sitting for storytime at home, but they were REALLY figitey tonight. I read from that blue colored set of books for kids, The Bible Story. I read the part where God created Man and then created Woman and they were OUTTA THERE! lol So hopefully, next week will go a little bit better!
